I can relate because I also work on things on and off. The guy on the left seems somewhat odd to me but IâEUTMm not really sure why. But it's still an awesome picture and it's almost monochromatic which doesn't really matter at all.

Looks like you have faces down pretty well. I would say you don't really need to use references for faces unless you were trying to make it look like someone specific. But that is just my opinion if you feel like you should use them more go for it.
